In New South Wales, it's a legal requirement to maintain your AWTS properly. Here's what you need to know:

Under NSW law:

Mandatory Service Contracts: All AWTS must have a maintenance contract with a qualified service agent
Quarterly Servicing Required: AWTS must be serviced every three months by a qualified technician
NSW Health Accreditation: Systems must be accredited under Clauses 40 and 41 of the Local Government (General) Regulation 2021
Council Registration: All AWTS must be registered with your local council
Service Reporting: Completed service reports must be submitted to both council and the property owner after each service
